THE COUNTRYSIDE CODE

THE COUNTRYSIDE CODE

LIGHTING FIRES IS FORBIDDEN

Dry leaves and pine needles catch fire very easily. A forest fire can spread extremely quickly, destroying trees and plants, which will take decades to recover.

PROTECT THE FLORA AND THE FAUNA

It is forbidden to pick wild flowers, especially Orchids, which are legally protected. Try not to disturb the wild animals. Beware of snakes !! Only the brownish Blunt-nosed Viper is dangerous, but it is usually a shy creature. Common Black snakes and lizards are harmless.

PLEASE DO NOT DROP RUBBISH

Take it ALL home with you. Respect the clean countryside. We will in fact carry with us a spare rubbish bag, to collect as much as we can of the rubbish left by thoughtless others on the mountain.

PLEASE BE QUIET

One of the main beauties of the mountains is the silent and peaceful atmosphere. Do not spoil this for others by being too noisy!

IF YOU ARE LOST

Don't panic ! Go to the last place you were together with your friends and wait. DO NOT try to go off alone. Use your mobile telephone to call the guide in charge.
