About Us
BARRY HURST
A guide with 40-plus years of experience as a hill-walker, mountaineer and skier in Britain,
the Alps and the Himalayas. A British guy with great affection for Cyprus, having
extensive knowledge of the Five Fingers Range and the Troodos Mountains.
A fluent speaker of English(!) - but quite good at Turkish and a fair bit of German too.
If you enjoy photography and landscapes, there are some interesting pages at
which is a project where the whole of the UK is being 'mapped' with photos.

THE COUNTRYSIDE CODE
LIGHTING FIRES IS FORBIDDEN
Dry leaves and pine needles catch fire very easily
A forest fire can spread extremely quickly, destroying trees and plants, which will take decades
to recover
Please do not be careless if you need to smoke in the mountains
PROTECT THE FLORA AND THE FAUNA
It is forbidden to pick wild flowers, which are legally protected
Try not to disturb the wild animals
Beware of snakes!!
For your protection we carry snake-bite serum
Only the Blunt-nosed Viper is dangerous, but it is usually a shy creature
Common Black snakes and lizards are harmless
PLEASE DO NOT DROP RUBBISH
Take it ALL home with you
Respect the normally clean and beautiful countryside
We will in fact carry with us a spare rubbish bag, to collect as much as we can of the rubbish left by
thoughtless others on the mountain
PLEASE BE QUIET
One of the main attractions of the mountains for most people is the silent and peaceful atmosphere
Do not spoil this for others by being too noisy!
IF YOU ARE LOST
Don't panic !
Go to the last place you were together with your walking group and wait
DO NOT try to go off alone
Use your mobile telephone to call the Guide in charge
REMEMBER THIS -
TAKE ONLY PHOTOGRAPHS . . . AND LEAVE ONLY FOOTPRINTS . . .
